Covanta Energy Haverhill Scholarship

Covanta Energy Haverhill sponsors a scholarship opportunity for a returning Northern Essex student pursuing a science education with particular interest in energy and renewable energy options.

Covanta Energy currently operates over 40 Energy-from-Waste facilities in North America, Europe, and Asia and also operates a diverse global portfolio of other energy plants that use a variety of technologies. Covanta facilities have earned a reputation for reliability, safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

Dr. John G. Santos Environmental Education Scholarship

The Dr. John G. Santos Environmental Education Scholarship is an annual scholarship opportunity for a returning Northern Essex student enrolled in an Associate Degree program in Earth Science, Physics, Biology, Chemistry or Laboratory Science with a minimum 3.0 GPA with an interest in science and environmental issues.

The donor, Dr. John Santos, is a 1968 graduate of NECC and the founder and director of Nature’s Classroom, an environmental education program for children dedicated to motivational learning and community awareness. The program is a recipient of the National Science Teachers Association Search for Excellence Award and is celebrating its 36th year in operation.
