Developmental Reading

Northern Essex Community College offers three developmental reading courses:

They provide instruction in vocabulary, reading comprehension and study strategies.

Placement into the courses is determined by the college’s assessment process. Basic Reading, Basic Reading Lab and College Reading are required for matriculating students whose reading score falls within certain ranges.

Individualized assistance and instruction is provided to students by the staff of the Reading Center.

This website provides information, resources, and links for current Basic Reading students, College Reading students, other NECC students, NECC faculty, and anyone else interested in learning more about reading instruction at NECC.
