Dr. Langer began teaching at NECC in the Fall of 2005. Before coming to Massachusetts, he was the Director of Music and Arts at the Eno River Unitarian-Universalist Church in Durham, North Carolina, where he directed four musical ensembles and coordinated all music and arts activities. He also spent nine years in Vermont teaching music at Lyndon State College where he chaired the Department of Fine and Performing Arts and spent four years teaching college music in Georgia.
Dr. Langer received a Ph.D. in music theory and composition from Kent State University, a Master’s in Music from Radford University and a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Kent State University. He currently has over 30 published works of music to his credit.

Anthony Beatrice, Instructor
A 2002 Pentucket graduate, Anthony Beatrice is the Pentucket Regional High School and Middle School Concert Band Director and Music Production teacher. Mr. Beatrice holds a Bachelors in Music Education Studies from the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he will be earning his Masters in Music Education in Spring 2011. A champion for music education, Mr. Beatrice has dedicated himself to the profession at the regional, state, and national levels. He has earned many accolades including the 2008 UMass Lowell Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year Award (Music Department), 2007 MENC Professional Achievement Award, 2007 UMass Lowell Chancellor’s Medal for Student Service, and the 2005 UMass Lowell Student Leader of the Year Award. He has served as the Drum Major of the UMass Lowell Riverhawk Marching Band, President of the UMass Lowell Collegiate Chapter of MENC, President of the Massachusetts Collegiate Chapter of MENC, and member of the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association as Member At Large and All-State Concert Band Manager. Anthony has also been elected to the University of Massachusetts Lowell College of Fine Arts and Social Sciences Alumni Advisory Council.
Alisa Bucchiere, Instructor

Ms. Bucchiere received a Masters of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the Westminster Choir College and a Bachelor’s of Music in Piano Performance from UMass-Lowell. She is a Doctoral Student in Music Education at Boston University and a member of the Piano Faculty at Indian Hill Music Center in Littleton, MA. She is also the Organist and Choir director at Tewksbury United Methodist Church.
Mike Finegold, Professor Emeritus
Music Theory I
Mr. Finegold is the Artistic Director of the Essex Chamber Music Players which he founded in 1999 while Professor and Coordinator of Music at NECC. He studied flute while doing post-graduate work at the New England Conservatory and as a graduate student working on his Masters of Music and Masters of Musical Arts degrees at the Yale University School of Music. He studied music composition as a composition minor-performance major at the Yale School of Music.
Christina Dietrich, Instructor

Ms. Dietrich received a Bachelor’s of Music from New England Conservatory and a Master’s of Music from Boston University where she is a Doctoral Candidate. She is vice president of the Chopin Society of New England and administrative director of the Chopin Conservatory of Music and maintains an extensive concert career.
Michael Lecuyer, Instructor
Guitar, Music Technology, Jazz/Rock Ensemble
Michael Lecuyer of Wrentham MA began professionally performing on the guitar at the age of 15. He graduated magnum cum laude from UMass Lowell in Music Performance with a concentration in Sound Recording Technology. He completed graduated studies in Music Education at Gordon College in Wenham MA. He currently holds faculty positions in the music departments of Northern Essex and Dean Colleges, as well as being music director at Sacred Heart School in Lynn MA. Michael maintains a rigorous performance schedule playing over 120 dates per year with various rock, jazz, blues, acoustic, and classical groups.
Seelan Manickam, Instructor
Applied Music: Brass
Seelan Manickam began his musical studies on the trumpet at the age of ten. He received his Bachelor of Music at the University of Victoria and completed his Graduate work in trumpet performance at The Boston Conservatory. A top prizewinner of several solo competitions, he has appeared as a frequent soloist with the Boston Chamber Orchestra, Cambridge Choral Society, South Coast Community Chorale and most recently The University of Massachusetts Orchestra. He has also played principal trumpet with The Indian Hill Symphony, New Hampshire Symphony, Salisbury Symphony, Thayer Symphony, New Bedford Symphony, Taipei Sinfionetta and Cape Ann Symphony.
As a founding member of the award winning Bala Brass Quintet, Seelan has toured the globe appearing in Japan, Canada and Thailand. In addition to performing with Bala, he is also the Music Director at St. John’s Preparatory School and is currently on faculty at The University of Massachusetts, Boston.
