If you enjoy interacting with people, experiencing new situations, and using critical thinking skills to develop solutions or overcome challenges, a career in business could be for you. Communication and problem-solving skills, conceptual skills and a desire to learn, are critical for successful business people. High levels of responsibility, self-esteem, social skills, integrity, and honesty are essential for a career in business. Students in NECC’s Business Management Program gain the skills and knowledge to enter the workforce as beginning professionals, leading to rewarding careers in the field.

At NECC, the Associate in Science Degree in Business Management will prepare you to enter the workforce directly in such entry-level positions as supervisors, management or sales trainees, assistant managers or administrators. You will learn about the modern business environment, the functional areas of business, business law, and the basic concepts of the business world. You will gain general management skills that will prepare you to work in a variety of organizations, including public and private, for-profit and non-profit.

In addition to classroom study, NECC’s Business Management Program offers internships at local companies such as Raytheon, UPS, and local non-profits. Co-operative learning opportunities at a variety of local businesses are also available to interested students.

Graduates pursue many career paths, and job settings and titles for business managers vary widely. Managers, supervisors, and trainees play a crucial role in the fields of marketing, advertising, sales, finance, banking, sports, entertainment, and many other related fields. Job prospects remain steady, and today’s graduates are entering into an exciting and evolving business landscape.
