Help Desk

Do you like helping others, have strong communications skills, and have an interest in technology? Then the Help Desk Certificate may be for you. As a Help Desk Practitioner, you will work directly with computer users providing customer service, simple technical support, and hardware and software troubleshooting. You will also answer phone calls, interpret problems, and keep track of issues and resolutions.

The Help Desk Certificate at NECC will prepare you for entry-level position in IT (Information Technology). You will gain general knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, software and network operation, and specific skills in troubleshooting, problem solving and customer service. You will also learn documentation and communications skills.

The completion of this certificate will allow you to pursue many career paths. Most help desk jobs are found in medium to larger-sized organizations, and are part of the IT team. Sample job titles include Help Desk Technician/Analyst, User Support Specialist, Customer Support Representative, Software Trainer, and PC Technician. You may also choose to transfer the credits earned in this certificate toward an NECC Associate Degree in Computer and Information Sciences.
