Liberal Arts: Journalism/Communication Option

If you like to write, have a curious nature, and would like to work in an exciting, fast-paced field, then a career in Journalism/Communication could be for you. Prepare for a career in print or broadcast journalism public relations, or corporate communication. If you have initiative, resourcefulness, and possess good communication skills, you have the qualities essential for a successful career in Journalism/Communication.

By completing the Associate in Arts Degree in Journalism/Communication Option, you will learn what it’s like to work in the communication field. The option provides basic courses and practical experience which prepares you for a career in public relations, corporate communication, or print or broadcast journalism, including jobs with newspapers, magazines, publishing, television or radio. The primary focus of the program is to prepare you to transfer to four-year programs for journalism and communication majors. The program has two concentrations to choose from – journalism or communication.

Graduates will be able to pursue many career paths, and can work as reporters, news analysts, editors, program directors, producers, public relations specialists, and more. Most jobs require a four-year bachelor degree.
