General Studies: Art

Are you artistic, imaginative, adaptable, collaborative, and a clear communicator? Then you have the qualities essential for a career in art. NECC's Associate Degree in General Studies: Art can provide you with a focus on a specific area of the arts, such as fine arts, multi-media, photography, or visual communications. It will also allow you flexibility to explore and experience the breadth of the arts. If you are looking to transfer and earn your bachelor’s degree, this degree will provide you with the foundation needed to be successful.

Career Opportunities

As a graduate, you will be able to pursue many career paths, including careers in photography, visual arts, graphic design, and multimedia. You will also have transfer opportunities to four-year colleges and universities for the above fields. NECC has a Portfolio Day every spring with four-year colleges such as Massachusetts College of Art & Design, Art Institute of Boston, Montserrat College of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, and New Hampshire Institute of Art. You can present your work to these transfer institutions and are encouraged to apply to the school of your choice.

Additional Opportunities

You may have the opportunity to create logos, brochures, and posters for on-campus as well as off-campus events. NECC strives to give you real-life opportunities to use your skills and see your work professionally printed or posted.
