Would you like to turn your passion for drawing, painting or other fine art into a career? Are you interested in going into art education or art therapy? Then NECC’s Associate Degree in General Studies: Visual Arts is for you.

NECC’s Associate Degree in General Studies: Visual Arts provides you with the skills necessary to pursue a career in fine arts, art education, or art therapy. The program gives you a strong foundation in the visual arts with an emphasis in drawing and painting and exposure to art history. You will create a portfolio of work you have completed throughout the program for independent work in the field of fine arts or for transfer to professional art schools and four-year colleges. You will also construct a resume, develop an artists’ statement, and learn how to pursue exhibition and grant opportunities.

Graduates will be able to pursue many career paths, and could work as artists, art educators, art therapists, appraisers, restorers, art buyers, curators, and more. You will also be prepared to transfer to a four-year college or university or art school.
