The Medical Office Assistant certificate program prepares students to work as entry level medical office assistants, receptionists, appointment schedulers or medical record clerks. The Medical Office Assistant typically works in health care centers, clinics, home health agencies and ambulatory care centers. Through the course of study, students will learn medical terminology, effective communication skills, computer applications and front office management procedures. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the National Health care Association certification exam to become a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA). Students must earn a grade of ā€œCā€ in all career courses in order to graduate. A minimum of 19 credits hours are required for graduation.
