Practical Nursing Certificate
The demand for practical nurses is continuing to grow. As a practical nurse, you will be part of a health care team, and work under close supervision. If you have a caring, sympathetic nature, and good communication, organization and critical thinking skills, practical nursing may be for you.
At NECC, the Certificate in Practical Nursing will prepare you to work in a variety of health care settings. You will gain the skills and knowledge essential for safe, effective, entry-level practical nursing practice. Throughout the program you will be participating in classroom study, laboratory practice, and clinical experiences at health care agencies. The Nursing Program is approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-pn).
Graduates will be able to pursue many career paths, and could work in many different settings including hospitals, long term care, outpatient treatment facilities, and home health care agencies. Job prospects are good and are expected to continue to grow, especially among home health care agencies. Graduates are also eligible to apply for NECC’s associate degree in nursing, which has an advanced placement component for the LPN.
The Nursing Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc.; 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850; Atlanta, Georgia 30326; (404) 975-5000.
