Effective Fall 2014
If you are seeking a career in health care that provides opportunities for growth, job security, and excellent salaries and benefits, a career in radiologic technology may be for you. Radiologic technologists, or radiographers, use x-ray equipment to provide images that assist in the diagnosis of trauma and disease. If you enjoy math and science, and like working with people and technology, you have the qualities essential for success as a radiologic technologist.
By completing the Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology at NECC, you will learn how to accurately position patients for a variety of radiologic procedures. You will be taught about radiation protection measures for yourself, your patients and other health care professionals while properly setting the technical factors to create diagnostic images. You will also learn how to care for patients and how to interact with other health care professionals.
Graduates will be able to pursue many career paths, and can work as entry-level radiologic technologists in hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, or with mobile radiography companies. Through on-the-job-training or additional education you can work in the specialty areas of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Vascular Interventional Technology (VIT) and Mammography. Job prospects are very good and are expected to continue to grow.
