Advanced Digital Photography builds on the skills and principles learned in ART 130 Introduction to Digital Photography, expanding upon and being more critical in looking at light, camera operations, composition and expression, and post-processing image adjustment and manipulation. Students will produce a digital portfolio. A 35mm style DSLR with manual aperture, shutter and focus adjustments are required. Additional supplies are required.

This course further develops the students understanding of Adobe? Photoshop?, the industry standard image editing software. Students will focus on advanced topics of digital imaging, including creating complex compositions, image manipulation, photo retouching, working with colors, channels, masking, filters, and adjustment layers. They will also explore how Photoshop? is used with other applications for print and web design and learn how to create layer masks and explore some 3D aspects of the program. Course Description:
A continuation of ASL101. This course builds upon the vocabulary and grammatical rules of American Sign Language. Students will focus on facial grammar and non-manual markers. Through assignments both inside and outside of the classroom students will learn about the Deaf Community and Deaf Culture. This class is taught primarily in ASL, priority seating given to Deaf or hard of hearing individuals. Students intending to enroll in Deaf Studies must pass the course with a minimum grade of B. Please note: Prerequisite ASL 101 must have been taken within the past 12 months. Students who have taken ASL 101 more than 12 months prior to registration must first be assessed by Deaf Studies faculty for permission to register.

Course Description:
This course is designed to provide an introduction to the biology of marine animals, including their physiology, ecology and behavior. The readings and lectures will illustrate many basic biological principles through study of the ocean environment and an examination of the plants & animals that live in the sea. We will also read about and discuss the major types of marine habitats including the deep sea, estuaries, and coral reefs. This course will include several field trips where marine biological concepts will be studied outdoors in and around the marine environment. In addition to the standard course fees, students will provide their own transport to local field sites and be required to purchase waterproof footwear. Although it is not required, a previous course in biology will help.

Course Description:
This course provides a foundation in basic chemistry for students majoring in one of the health professions. Basic concepts are covered including: properties of matter, energy, atomic and molecular structure, isotopes, chemical bonding, chemical formulae and reactions. The behavior of gasses including blood gasses and their transport are discussed. The properties of water and solutions are studied and will include topics on concentration, osmosis, physiological fluid, electrolyte balance, acid/base balance and pH. Concepts of organic chemistry are introduced including the structure and function of carbon and the properties of the major functional groups important in human biochemistry. Laboratory work will include experiments that complement the material covered in lecture.

Course Description:
The basic principles of chemistry are reviewed and the basic principles of biology are introduced. These are followed by an introduction to the study of the structure and functioning of the human body. Systems covered are integumentary, skeletal, muscular and nervous. Emphasis will be placed on the interrelationships among the systems. Related topics such as diseases of the systems will be integrated where applicable. Laboratory work will include experiments, dissection, microscope work, and the study of charts and models. Please note: Prerequisites are BIO 115 Physiological Chemistry or CHM 111 Introduction to Chemistry or higher or high school chemistry in the past five years.

An introductory course to Entrepreneurship, designed to help potential and current small business owners understand the basics of business. The course provides the skills needed to successfully identify, analyze and develop a business idea into the start of a business plan. It covers topics such as exploring/planning and managing/ marketing. Course Description:
An introduction to computer and digital forensics. The course covers procedures for handling digital evidence, the laws and regulations that apply to computers and digital systems, the tools used for obtaining, analyzing and reporting on digital evidence. This course teaches students how to write for, edit, produce and direct complete television programs in a non-dramatic format; how to operate the equipment in the TV studio and control centers; and how to evaluate television content. Course Description:
A one semester course, 3 credit hours. Introduce the student to cross-sectional anatomy and Computed Tomography (CT) procedures, protocols and pathology of the head, neck and chest. Students will be provided with an overview of the patient care and monitoring required in a CT department , including contrast administration requirements specific to the procedures investigated. Students taking this course must have graduated from an accredited imaging program and hold a current certification in Radiography, Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine Technology with the ARRT or certification with the NMTCB in Nuclear Medicine.

Course Description:
A one semester course, 3 credit hours. Introduce the student to the physical principles of Computed Tomography and CT equipment. The historical evolution of CT will be reviewed along with the characteristics of X-radiation and X-ray production. The operations and functions of a CT system will be examined. CTA290 - CT Clinical Practicum

Course Description:
A one semester course, 2 credit hours. This CT clinical practicum course is designed to allow qualified technologists to complete the number of clinical procedures mandated by the American Registry of Radioliogic Technologists (ARRT) to be considered eligible to apply to sit for certification in CT, while emphasizing the importance of patient care, radiation safety and the principles of radiation protection in the CT department. Requires completion of a minimum of 16 clinical hours per week in assigned NECC CT clinical site. PLEASE NOTE: CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), CHRI (Criminal Records Central Repository) and/or SORI (Sex Offender Record Information) checks are required prior to participation in this course. In addition, Technologists must provide proof of current CPR certification at the Health Care Provider/Professional Rescuer level and a current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologists license in Radiography, Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine prior to participation in this course. Drug Screening: Students enrolled in this academic course may be required to pass a drug screening analysis.

This culture is known as deaf culture. Students in this class will be introduced to various facets of American deaf culture through readings, videos, and discussions. Students will also explore other deaf cultures throughout the world. Among the foci are issues of accessibility, perspectives of deaf vs. hearing individuals, and examples of deaf literature. This course is taught in American Sign Language.
