Bookkeeping Fundamentals Certificate Program

Maintaining accurate financial records is one of the most basic yet critical functions for businesses of any size. This certificate program provides an overview of the basic concepts for anyone interested in this as a starting point for their career, for those wanting a better understanding of this function in their company as well as for entrepreneurs who manage their own books. Complete a minimum of the Fundamentals of Bookkeeping I and II to earn the certificate of completion. Additional courses in Excel and QuickBooks as well as Accounting and Finance are highly recommended. Bring pencil, eraser and calculator to class. *Note same book used in Fundamentals of Bookkeeping I and II.

Fundamentals of Bookkeeping I

This practical, interactive course is for those with no knowledge of bookkeeping or for anyone needing a refresher. Learn essential terms and concepts related to starting an accounting system, understand debits and credits, classify items as assets, liabilities, equity, revenue/sales and expenditures. You’ll also use practice scenarios, and complete some basic procedures such as journalizing entries and posting transactions to a general ledger.

Fundamentals of Bookkeeping II

This course requires completion of the Fundamentals of Bookkeeping I. Explore the bookkeeping and accounting cycle, cash systems, creating and understanding financial reports. You’ll learn to create a Trial Balance and Post-Closing Trial Balance, understand an Income Statement and Balance Sheet as well as adjusting entries and bank statement reconciliation.

 Intermediate Bookkeeping NEW!

Do you want hands-on bookkeeping experience?  This practical course combines lecture and hands-on experience to create a worksheet from a General Ledger, calculate adjustments, prepare financial reports, analyze results and close the books for the fiscal year, plus create a Post Trial Balance to start the new fiscal year.  Completion of Fundamentals of Bookkeeping I and II or prior bookkeeping knowledge strongly recommended.  Bring calculator, pencil and eraser to class.
