Meeting & Event Planning Certificate Program

Develop the skills, techniques and know-how to plan stellar events in this lively, hands-on practical program! Whether planning a nonprofits’s fundraiser, a gallery opening, convention, corporate annual meeting, a wedding or special social event, you’ll learn the steps necessary to plan a winning event from start to finish without the need for crisis management. Those interested in a career in meeting or event planning will find this program helpful in getting started in the industry; those with some experience will be exposed to new ideas and ways of thinking about events. Completion of all 7 modules required to earn the certificate of completion.

Principles of Meeting & Event Management

Provides an overview of the various components of negotiations, creating and managing timelines, set-up, audio-visual, food and beverage, onsite management, evaluation, and event follow-up.

Catering Design & Management

Explore the food and beverage side of event planning; topics include menu development and planning, packages, service styles and event flow, and the logistics of offisite catering management.

Learn the tools needed to successfully develop and maintain a client base in the competitive event world, including creating and following a marketing plan, the sales process, business development strategies, and client relationship building.

Financial Planning & Legal Studies for the Event Planner

Covers the basics of financial management for events and familiarizes you with the legal issues surrounding the industry, including budgeting, profit and loss, contracts, insurance, and liability issues.

The Business of Weddings & Social Events

Explore what it’s like to plan and manage weddings and social events, including meeting with clients, working with vendors and sites, timelines, budgets, and onsite coordination.

The Business of Being an Event Planner

Determine what’s involved to start and operate your own event planning business, the ins and outs of working as an event planner, as well as self-marketing and the making the pitch (proposal writing).
