The Merrimac River and Bald Eagles
The Bald Eagle is one of our national symbols. Each winter Bald Eagles from northern New England move south to the lower Merrimack River, their perfect winter habitat This outdoor class along the Merrimac River’s edge will give you an opportunity to learn about field marks, bill size & shape, cere & talons, plumage, eyes and their hunting style, flight speed & altitude,. Walk will be on snow and unimproved trails so dress appropriately for outdoor weather including waterproof boots. If you have binoculars, bring them. Meeting location: Park & Ride on Storey Avenue (Rt 113) in Newburyport, Exit 57 off Rt. 95. Limit 10.
