Boxwood and Baubles Centerpiece

Add a touch of sparkle to your home. Create a beautiful, long-lasting, fresh holiday centerpiece using an attractive container by arranging fresh boxwood, fragrant evergreens, and California bay and rosemary accented with sprays of berries, pine cones, and clusters of pretty baubles. A great gift idea!  Materials fee paid in class.

Holiday Table Garden

Plant a fragrant and festive garden for holiday decoration. Combine chartreuse, lemon-scented cypress with small evergreens, trailing ivies, white flowering plants, and club moss in an attractive container.  Use for your own home or as a great holiday gift. Materials fee paid in class.

Open Top Terrarium

Your own garden in a bowl will give you many months of pleasure. Learn how to plant and maintain your terrarium. Create yours by planting a colorful selection of slow-growing plants in an 8″ bubble bowl and finish your garden with decorative accents of polished stones and mossy branches. Materials fee paid in class.

Spring Table Garden

Plant a colorful spring garden to grow indoors while you are waiting for the outdoors to bloom. You will create an arrangement of flowering spring plants in a basket using cyclamen, tulips, primrose, daffodils, lacy ferns, and ivies. When summer arrives, you can transplant all of them to your garden to enjoy them all summer. Materials fee paid in class.

Fairy House and Garden in a Basket

Are there fairies at the bottom of your garden? Possibly, but even if there aren’t, it is great fun to pretend! Using bark, leaves, twigs, and other natural materials, you will create a little home into which any fairy would be pleased to move. Once the house is built, the landscaping can begin. Lay out paths, design a garden, and put in a pond. The construction site is a basket that is easily carried home. Materials fee paid in class.

Herbs for the Kitchen: How to Grow and Use Them

Make the simplest meals come alive using herbs. Learn how and where to grow herbs, how to use them fresh from the garden, and when and how to preserve them for winter cooking. Materials fee paid in class covers informational sheets on herb growing and Betsy’s book, Mrs. Thrift’s Cupboard, a collection of tried and true herb recipes. The end of class features a condiment tasting. Materials fee paid in class.

Nothing enhances a meal like the taste of fresh herbs. Grow your own portable herb garden in a 14″ container for a sunny porch or doorstep. You will plant a classic herb garden that can be moved from place to place to take full advantage of available sunlight. Herb choices include rosemary, chives, sage, thyme, and parsley.
