Small Business Development Center

The MSBDC’s (Massachusetts Small Business Development Center) Northeastern Regional Office, headquartered at Salem State University in cooperation with NECC, will provide one-to-one counseling assistance to small businesses or prospective small businesses at NECC. Counseling is available in both English and Spanish, is provided free of charge during the day and includes, but is not limited to, business plan development, market analysis, business feasibility, etc The MSBDC is a partnership of the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Executive Office of Economic Affairs, The U-Mass/Amherst School of Management, and Salem State.  Financing Your Business:  Do You Qualify?

Learn from a banker and a consultant how a lender looks at your loan request.  Credit quality, cash flow and collateral are key.  This presentation will focus on preparing your existing business or startup venture for financing.  Sources of capital, including SBA guaranteed bank loans, will be discussed.

Class Flow: Your Way to Break Even

Why do bankers say “cash flow is king”?  How is cash flow different from profit?  This workshop and its simple but realistic class exercise will help you understand cash flow, assess when you will need capital, and position your business for bank financing.
