Introduction to Arabic*

Learn standard Arabic. Class will combine speaking with some reading and writing. Start learning the alphabet, numbers, and basic vocabulary and most common verbs.

Introduction to German

Learn the alphabet, definite and indefinite articles, personal pronouns, and the conjugation of the most frequently used verbs, as well as various aspects of German culture. Class focuses on appropriate sentence construction using increasing vocabulary and grammar, along with an emphasis on correct pronunciation.

Beginner Conversational Italian

Are you planning a trip to Italy, have Italian relatives that you want to converse with or perhaps you just want to learn a new language? Learn grammar, parts of speech, and focus on speaking. Lessons use real situation conversation, role play, grammar drills and listening exercises to learn the language and improve pronunciation. No textbook required.

Beginner Conversational Spanish

Learn vocabulary, grammar and how to communicate in Spanish in this interactive class that includes lots of activities like games, conversation, reading and role playing. Spanish Grammar Refresher – NEW!

This course is designed for students who need to focus more on the grammar and writing skills of Spanish. Specific grammar points will be covered including verb tenses, noun agreements, subjunctives (moods) and vocabulary. Students will speak in Spanish to practice. Prerequisite: Students should have prior Spanish speaking experience or have completed the non-credit Beginner Conversational Spanish course. The class uses the same text from the Beginner Conversational Spanish class. American Sign Language at Work: Intro Level *

This course will help those new to American Sign Language develop linguistic skills to communicate effectively with deaf or hard of hearing customers/co-workers in various workplaces. You’ll also learn about American Deaf culture, accommodation materials for deaf and hard of hearing people, requesting appropriate people to facilitate between hearing people and deaf/hard of hearing people, and the use of alternative approaches to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing people.
