Life of Irving Berlin – Robyn Steriti

Wednesdays, 10 – 12noon April 24 – May 15 TC205

Towering composer, songwriter, (“God Bless America”, “Always”, “and Blue Skies “,” White Christmas”) author and publisher, he came to the United States at age 5 and was educated in New York’s public schools. His earliest musical education was from his father, a cantor. He earned Honorary degrees from Bucknell University and Temple University. Beginning his career as a song-plugger for publisher Harry von Tilzer, Berlin worked as a singing waiter in Chinatown. In 1909, he was hired as a staff lyricist by the Ted Snyder Company, and became a partner to that firm four years later. Join LLL and learn about this amazing songwriter.

Neil Simon the Play Goes On – Robyn Steriti

Marvin Neil Simon was born in the Bronx on July 4, 1927, and grew up in Washington Heights at the northern tip of Manhattan. He attended New York University briefly (1944-45) and the University of Denver (1945-46) before joining the United States Army where he began his writing career working for the Army camp newspaper. Join LLL and learn about this amazing person.
