Career Development Facilitator Certificate Program – New

In cooperation with the National Career Development Association (NCDA), this introductory series of courses offers a solid comprehensive overview of career development and planning.  Practitioners providing career assistance in a variety of settings are invited to take one or all six courses in the series.  Together, these courses lead to the Career Development Facilitator certificate of completion for those who successfully complete all six courses; this certificate, coupled with your education and experience, leads to the internationally recognized GCDF (Global Career Development Facilitator) certification. 

Instructor:  Dr. Heather N. Marietta, owner of Career In Progress, with 15+ years’ experience as a career educator and coach; instructor for the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)

Developing Effective Career Facilitation Skills

This course will help improve your listening, encouraging, and guiding skills when working with students, parents, and clients. Problem-solving and motivational communication techniques are introduced and practiced. Out-of-class activities will be assigned. Virtual and in class delivery included. No pre-req.

Career Development Models and Assessment Strategies

Understand foundational models for lifelong development, age-appropriate goals and career-related strategies using a variety of formal and informal assessments.  Effective ethical practices for administering assessments will be discussed.  Out-of-class activities will be assigned.  Virtual and in class delivery included.  No pre-req.

Prepare and develop materials for training programs and presentations. Learn effective techniques to engage your group and maximize participation and learning. Explore the impact of learning styles on effective group trainings, tips for solving common classroom challenges, and techniques for effective content delivery. Understand how to apply labor market and occupational information and workplace trends to connect with business and industry. Learn the top skills employers are looking for and how to work with your population to develop those skills and apply them effectively to a job search.
