Safe food handling is critical to keeping customers and co-workers safe. Offered in association with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, ServSafe is a comprehensive eight-hour course that provides an overview of basic sanitation policies and procedures and prepares you to pass the ServSafe Certification exam given during the last class. Students who pass the exam will be awarded the ServSafe Certification by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation.

Certified Nurse Aide/Home Health Aide Prep Program NEW!
This 150-hour daytime program prepares students to sit for the state licensing test to become Certified Nurse Aides and also become a Home Health Aide. The program meets Monday through Friday from 8:30a.m. to 2:30p.m. and includes theory, clinical skills, and clinical practice at a long term care facility under the supervision of a registered nurse. Community Action of Haverhill provides this six-week nurse aide training program in partnership with Northern Essex Community College Center for Corporate and Community Education. Sessions are scheduled to begin on January 21st and March 24th. Information sessions for individuals interested in becoming a certified nurse aide or home health aide will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. and Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 10 a.m. at NECC Riverwalk, 360 Merrimack St., Building 9, in Lawrence.
Health Care Provider CPR
Intended for the healthcare provider who cares for patients in a variety of settings, this course teaches CPR for victims of all ages. Topics include ventilation with a barrier device, bag-mask device, oxygen, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). Includes the adult signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking. Students are encouraged to register early, obtain their books from our office one week prior to class start and become familiar with the contents prior to the start of class. Lunch on your own. Book and training shield included in materials fee and available in the classroom!
