Machine Tool/Operator

Machine Tool/Machine Operator (CNC) Training Program

Provides training in skills needed to perform basic machine operations of CNC mills and lathes.  This noncredit certification prep program combines lecture, online interactive curriculum, demonstration, discussion & hands-on exercises to provide an intro to programming, setup & tooling for CNCs with topics including system parts, machine shop measurements, tolerances, fundamental coding, numeric parts programming & operation of CNC turning & milling centers.  Includes industry recognized online modular curriculum with interactive exercises; and hands-on machining experience in machine shop environment.  Final week includes skill assessment and NIMS Certification exam. 

Pre-requisites:  High School Diploma or GED/HiSet; completing TABE testing in Math and Reading at 8th grade or higher, and CORI/SORI forms

Orientation and industry certification held at NECC Riverwalk Campus in Lawrence; hands-on machining lab and online modules will be conducted at the Whittier Regional Vocational Technical School in Haverhill.   

354 CNCM1001-OA: M/Tu/W/Th, 3:30 – 6:30p.m. + additional online responsibilities each week, 10 wks, 3/6 – 5/11 (testing on 5/11), $3,400 fee, Riverwalk/Whittier Regional Vocational Technical School.
