Preparation Course for the
Communication & Literacy Skills Test (CLST) of the MTEL
This ten-hour workshop is designed to prepare those who plan to take the Communication and Literacy Skills Test (CLST) which is one of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL). The CLST is required for licensure as a teacher or educational administrator in Massachusetts and is required for students who are transferring to a four-year college with programs leading to teacher licensure.
This course provides an overview of the test, and intensive review of the skills assessed by the test, the opportunity to take sample tests, and strategies for test-taking. Participants also receive a test preparation book, personalized feedback on their writing samples, and support of the MTEL instructor between classes via email. Please note that this course provides a rigorous review of skills required for the test, rather than actual skill development. If you feel that you might need more time and practice to prepare for the CLST than this course provides, please contact Erin O’Brien at the NECC Center for Careers in Teaching at 978-738-7436 or email her at eobrien@necc.mass.edu.
