Preparation Course for the Communication & Literacy Skills Test (CLST) of the MTEL

Prepare for the Communication and Literacy Skills Test (CLST), one of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) tests. The CLST is required for licensure as a teacher or educational administrator in Massachusetts and is required for students transferring to teacher education programs at four-year colleges. You’ll feel more confident after completing this overview of the test, intensive review of skills assessed by the test, taking sample tests, and learning test-taking strategies.  Participants also receive a custom test study guide, personalized feedback on writing samples, and instructor support between classes via email. Note that this course provides a rigorous review of skills required to pass the test, rather than actual skill development.

Materials fee includes test prep materials.

Child Growth and Development for English Language Learners

Designed for those currently working with young children who wish to begin working towards EEC Teacher Certification and college level early childhood coursework, students will complete readings, discussions, and activities designed to increase child growth and development knowledge, and develop English reading and writing skills. Students will focus on learning the areas of children’s growth and development prenatal through age eight, and be able to apply their learning to create appropriate lessons and environments in their early childhood settings.  This course also prepares English Language Learners for the reading and writing required in a college level Child Growth and Development course.  This course does not meet the Child Growth and Development requirement for EEC Teacher certification; students may discuss with the course instructors and advisor the process to transition into the college level course at the end of the 9 week course.  This course is CEU eligible.
