English Literacy (ESOL) & ESOL Career Pathways Bridge – Lawrence

In the NECC CAEPP English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs, you will advance your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
This program is for students with intermediate through advanced English language skills, and has three levels:
Level 4 (Low Intermediate)
Level 5 (Intermediate)
Level 6 (High Intermediate/Advanced)
Students in Level 6 are also enrolled in in our Intensive Writing for ESOL class. In this class students will improve their writing skills for the workplace, as well as in preparation for college level courses. By the end of Level 6, students will be ready to enter the NECC Academic ESL program.
Career and Education Advising will also be available to all students. The advisor will provide group workshops on career exploration and education options as well as individualized career, education and family plans during one-on-one sessions. Students will establish clear goals for their lives while in this program that they can take with them when they leave.

This program is for students with advanced English language skills who want to earn 6 free college credits while developing college and career skills, and has two options:
Level 7-10 Healthcare (starts in September)
Level 7-10 Business/Technology (starts in January)
Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Students commit to two semesters of classes and attend class for 9 hours per week. Students choose a career pathways based on their interest and improve their academic reading, writing and vocabulary skills in the context of their future coursework and careers. By the end of the program, students will be ready to enter an NECC certificate or degree program.
