Standardized Exam Registration

Any student is eligible to take CLEP or DSST Examinations. Students are encouraged to consult with their faculty advisor or the Advising Center regarding credit awards. Click here to see what CLEP exams are accepted at NECC.

CLEP Registration Procedures

• Fill out a CLEP Registration Form (PDF 114KB) or pick one up at the Northern Essex Community College Academic Placement & Testing Center, Technology Center, Room TC-128.
• Include a money order for the Test Registration Fee, payable to Northern Essex Community College (NECC) in the amount of $35.00 for each test.. This is a non-refundable fee.
• Send the CLEP registration form and Test Registration Fee to:

• Upon receipt of your registration form and Test Registration Fee, you will be scheduled for a test session (taking into account the preferences you indicated for testing dates on your application) and you will be mailed a Test Confirmation and directions to the testing room.
• On the day of the test, the CLEP testing fee of $80.00 per test will be collected. Payment by credit card is preferred, but checks or money orders payable to CLEP will be accepted. If you are scheduled to take more than one test on the same day you must bring two separate checks. Cash will not be accepted.
• It is necessary to bring two forms of Identification (see below for acceptable forms of ID) on the testing day.

Acceptable forms of primary identification include:
A current driver’s license
A current state or federal ID card
A current passport
A tribal ID card
A naturalization card or certificate of citizenship

Acceptable forms of secondary identification include:
A current employee ID
A current student ID
A Social Security card
A military ID
An unused ID from the primary choices above

All funded military candidates must present a current military ID and a second form of government-issued photo ID.

DSST Registration Procedures

• Fill out the DSST Registration Form or pick one up at the Northern Essex Community College Academic Placement & Testing Center, Technology Center, Room TC-128.
• Include a money order for the Test Registration Fee, payable to Northern Essex Community College (NECC) in the amount of $35.00 per test. This is a non-refundable fee.
• Send the DSST registration form and Test Registration fee to:

• DSST exams are Internet-based exams which you can get by going to the DSST website, http://www.getcollegecredit.com/pdfs/exam-list.pdf.   NOTE: Not all test forms listed are available to each testing site.  A confirmation will be sent to you upon receipt of your application and fee.
• You must bring your school code with you for reporting purposes when you come to test. You can get this by either going to the DSST website,  www.getcollegecredit.com, or calling your school for the code. You should confirm that your school does accept DSST credits.
• The DSST Testing Fee of $80.00 per test is collected on the day of the test payable by valid credit card or debit card. Personal checks and cash payments cannot be accepted.
• See above for list of acceptable forms of ID.
