Verifying Your High School Equivalency Credential (GED® or HiSET™)

As of July 2014, the process for verifying that you did receive a Massachusetts high school equivalency credential (GED® or HiSET™) has changed. Please read carefully and follow the procedure for getting these important documents.

Verification of your high school equivalency credential based on the HiSET™. Testing from March 2014 to present:

To obtain your original high school credential and official transcript based on your passing the HiSET™ tests, you must sign up at Diploma Sender (www.diplomasender.com) and follow the steps for having the documents sent directly to you. These original documents are free to you.

You will only receive the original credential; no copies or duplicates are issued; however, you may receive Letters of Certification which is an official verification that you were awarded the Massachusetts high school equivalency credential by accessing Diploma Sender website (www.diplomasender.com) and by paying the required fee of $15. You may also request and pay for any number of official transcripts you need by accessing Diploma Sender website (www.diplomasender.com).

Verification of your high school equivalency credential based on the GED® testing from the 1970′s to 2013:

To obtain verification that you did receive a Massachusetts high school equivalency credential based on your passing score on the GED®, you must sign up at Diploma Sender (www.diplomasender.com) and follow the steps for having documents sent to you or whomever else you designate. There is a $15 fee for each original and valid document that Diploma Sender will provide for you.

We do not do copies or duplicates of your original credential; however, you can request a Letter of Certification, which is an official document that verifies you were awarded the Massachusetts high school equivalency credential by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, from Diploma Sender and by paying the required fee of $15. You may also request and pay for any number of official transcripts you need by accessing Diploma Sender website (www.diplomasender.com).

As of September 22, 2014, the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s HSE Office will no longer be issuing any information verifying that an individual received his/her Massachusetts high school equivalency credential based on either the GED® or HiSET™ tests. If you had faxed or sent a request with a $2 money order after Monday September 22, 2014, it will be returned to you with information to contact Diploma Sender.
