Adult Literacy and Transition Programs
English Literacy/Civics (ESOL) - Lawrence
This class provides instruction in English for Speakers of Other
Languages (ESOL). Community-based ESOL English literacy instruction
includes reading, writing, oral language and critical thinking, within
the context of Civics and Citizenship. The experience of living in
America is also discussed. Three class levels are offered in Lawrence
from High Intermediate through Low Advanced levels. An assessment
test is used to place all students.
Instruction includes:
- Reading
- Writing
- Conversation
- Computer Skills
An ESOL Computer Basics instruction
course is also offered on Saturday mornings in Lawrence for EL/Civics students
who would like to become proficient in basic computer skills.
