Scott Proposki – Alumni Success
Scott Proposki came to NECC after graduating from high school. A self-described “explorer,” Proposki enrolled in Northern Essex as a way to broaden and continue his explorations. While attending NECC and completing his associate degree in broadcast journalism, his explorations led him back to one of his earliest passions – photography. After graduating in 1992, Scott began working at the Eagle Tribune as a news photographer and credits his NECC degree with giving him the professional edge he needed in the workforce.
He developed enough business contacts and acumen to create his own photography business. In 2000, at age 30, Scott launched his own business – Photos In A Minute, an innovative digital event photography company. One of the company’s first big projects was providing photography services at the “Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets” movie opening in New York City. Using green screens, attendees selected one of three backdrops from the movie and had their pictures taken and printed in a minute!
Everything went smoothly for Scott that night and his business has continued to grow and thrive in the years since. Scott has grown the company into a global entity and now has Hewlett Packard, Nike, the New England Patriots, HBO, and others as major clients. He regularly travels for his work, allowing him to see cities in the United States and abroad. The launch of his own business fueled Scott to accomplish things that previously seemed unimaginable.
Scott has continued to explore, to learn, and to pursue his passions. He has developed another innovative business, Camera in the Sky, which takes aerial photographs using helicopter drones. His amazing work can be seen across the Merrimack Valley.
Scott advises NECC students to understand that education never ends and that they can learn something in every second of every day. He also encourages students to keep exploring—it’s a huge world out there!
