Richard Blanco is a Cuban-American poet who is not afraid of putting his family and heritage as the anchor of his work. He was the first openly gay person and first Latino to speak at a Presidential Inauguration when he read his poem “One Today” at President Obama’s second inauguration.
On March 6, 2014, hip-hop journalist and writer Raquel Cepeda was on the Lawrence Campus to share her experiences in the hip-hop world and also her book about her struggles to identify with her family and their true Dominican culture.
