The Student Leadership Development Program: NECC's Ambassadors to the Community

Student Leadership

See also the Student Leadership Development Program offered via the Student Engagement Center.

A collaborative effort of Career Planning and College Life and Healthy Living, the Student Leadership Program has the goal of helping students develop and enhance "transferable skills"-skills that lead to academic success and civic responsibility and improve students' chances for achieving career goals.

This is a two-tier program. The Emerging Leaders Level is the first tier. Here, students participate in a variety of workshops and seminars, as well as service learning and mentoring opportunities. Those who attend at least three workshops and participate in 15 hours of community service are awarded a Student Leadership Certificate and are eligible to become Presidential Student Ambassadors. Students may also be eligible for a transcript notation highlighting their leadership and community service learning work.

Presidential Student Ambassadors complete the Student Leadership Development Program and are trained in a variety of ways to use their leadership skills. They are called upon to assist at high-level on-campus and off-campus functions and are empowered to act as NECC's Ambassadors to the community.

More than 400 students have participated in the Student Leadership Program.
