Celebrating 50 years of Making a Difference!

1961 – 2011 Haverhill · Lawrence, Massachusetts

A poster designed by Lance Hidy, depicting an instructor smiling and leaning over two students who are animatedly working on a computer - the light from the computer shining on their engrossed faces

Lance Hidy, award winning graphic designer and professor at NECC , has created this poster in celebration of the college’s 50th Anniversary.

Turning 50 feels good when there is so much to celebrate! In its 50 years of existence, Northern Essex has made a difference in the lives of so many students and former students and contributed greatly to the Greater Haverhill and Greater Lawrence communities. Please join the celebration as we honor the college’s proud and fruitful 50-year history.

There are many ways for students, faculty and staff, college retirees, alumni, and members of the community to participate:

  • Attend one of the many 50th anniversary events, including cultural programs, a formal gala, and the inauguration of Dr. Lane Glenn, the fourth president of the college
  • Nominate a graduate, community friend, or current or former faculty or staff member for a Making a Difference Award, recognizing influential members of the NECC community that have made a difference in the lives of others
  • Share your memories and/or college photos
  • Join the 50th anniversary Facebook page to receive notice of events and special opportunities
