Course Description
Graphic Design I is a foundation course which will develop an understanding of the basic design principles, including space, line, form, color and the use of letterforms and design contrasts to convey a visual message. Projects will be completed with various design media while exploring the importance of working in stages from rough idea to finished design work.

The projects will include combining original art work with photography; creating large formatted posters; combining abstraction with found objects and scanned images. Two class hours and two lab hours.

The student will develop an appropriate portfolio for graphic design by working on assigned projects, selecting and presenting work, developing appropriate associated materials (e.g. resume, card, stationery, tear sheets or printed pieces.)
