| Course Description | This introductory course will focus on learning strategies that can be utilized throughout the nursing curriculum. This course is specifically designed for those students who have applied or will apply to the nursing programs at NECC. Emphasis will be placed on learning tools necessary for success in a rigorous nursing program. Although completion of this course does not guarantee acceptance- it will give the student study, reading, critical thinking and test taking skills necessary for success in all aspects of learning.

| Course Description | An in-depth study of pathophysiologic concepts using a major body system/organ approach. The cardiovascular and pulmonary systems will be emphasized, with additional study focusing on multisystem organ failure, and the gastrointestinal, renal and endocrine systems. Selected topics from hematology/immunology and neurology will be included. Emphasis will be placed on the etiology and progression from the normal physiological state to the diseased state with resultant clinical signs and symptoms. | Course Description | Designed for students new to the healthcare field to provide an introduction to the practical skills and experience necessary for a productive career in healthcare practice management. The practicum also provides students with prior work experience the opportunity to gain new experience in a different area of specialization. Students will be assigned to 180 hours of supervised, non-salaried experience in a healthcare agency. (Note: Students must have completed immunization requirements before placement. Students must provide own transportation.)
