Students develop their music hearing ability through ear training skills using the software program MacGAMUT on the Macintosh or Windows computer platforms. Learning involves self-tutorial software, customized program for individual needs, and consultations with the teacher. Students work on aural identification and written spelling of scales, intervals and chords. The program covers ascending and descending 1) major, natural minor, harmonic minor, melodic minor and the modal scales 2) melodic and harmonic major, minor, diminished, augmented triads and seventh chords in root position and inversions. 3 hours per week; 3 credits.
