ESL at NECC
The focus of the ESL courses at NECC is totally academic. Our goal is to prepare students to use English at a college level. The ESL curriculum includes courses in English grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking. This curriculum prepares students for courses which lead to a Certificate or Associates degree from NECC and is not appropriate for Workplace Literacy or English Survival Skills. Although NECC offers a comprehensive ESL curriculum, the majority of students do not need all the courses. Placement in the courses is determined through the assessment process.
