Veterans and Active Duty Service Persons

Federal GI Benefits

Monthly allotment to eligible veterans who entered the service after July 1, 1985 .

Chapter 106 GI Benefits

Monthly allotment to eligible Active Duty National Guard or Active Duty Reservist who entered the guard or reserves after July 1, 1985 and are in a six year obligation.

State Tuition Exemption Program

A benefit available to certain categories of Veterans who are considered conflict veterans by Massachusetts General Laws and have resided in Massachusetts for at least one year immediately prior to going to school.

Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC)

Students may enroll in Air Force Reserve Training Corps (AFROTC) courses at UMass Lowell through the Northeast Consortium of Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts (NECCUM). The AFROTC program qualifies men and women for a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Both two-year and four-year programs, as well as scholarships are available. To enroll in AFROTC, obtain a NECCUM form after registering for NECC classes, then visit UMass Lowell's Registrar's office, to register for the classes below, at no additional cost or fee.

Fall Classes:
Freshman: Register for 29.101.201 (Thurs 5 - 6pm) and 29.001.701 (Thurs 6 - 8pm)

Sophomores: Register for 29.201.201 (Thurs 5 - 6pm) and 29.001.701 (Thurs 6 - 8pm)

Spring Classes:
Freshman: Register for 29.102.201 (Thurs 5 - 6pm) and 29.001.701 (Thurs 6 - 8pm)

Sophomores: Register for 29.202.201 (Thurs 5 - 6pm) and 29.001.701 (Thurs 6 - 8pm)
