Gallaudet University Regional Center East

Sharing the Resources of Gallaudet University with the East

Established in 1980, the East Region GURC, located on the campus of Northern Essex Community College-Haverhill, brings the resources of the world’s only liberal arts university for deaf and hard of hearing people, Gallaudet University, to Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia. Gallaudet University Regional Centers offer training workshops, technical assistance, and extension courses and coordinate the annual Regional High School Academic Bowl competitions. We provide information on professional development opportunities, assistance in planning programs or workshops, and technical assistance related to the education of deaf and hard of hearing students. GURCs address the educational, transition, and professional development needs of deaf and hard of hearing people from birth through adulthood, their families, and the professionals who work with them.
