Northern Essex Community College has a number of scholarship awards available to students from private donors, through NECC’s Office of Institutional Advancement.

The application period is currently closed.

The application period will open February 1, 2017.

NECC Alumni Incoming Freshman Scholarship

3 awards available at $1,000 ($500 fall / $500 spring)

  • Completed Incoming Freshman Application form
  • One Letter of Recommendation from high school teacher or guidance counselor
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA from high school
  • High school transcript (may be unofficial)
  • Must be registered at NECC for minimum of 9 credits for Fall 2016 semester
  • Brief personal statement (1-2 paragraphs) with answer to the following:
    • Describe your educational and career goals.
    • Describe how a scholarship from NECC will help you achieve those goals.

NECC Foundation, Inc. Incoming Freshman Scholarship

(Award amounts vary)

  • Completed Incoming Freshman Application
  • One Letter of Recommendation from high school teacher or guidance counselor
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA from high school
  • High school transcript (may be unofficial)
  • Must be registered at NECC for minimum of 6 credits for Fall 2016 semester
  • Brief personal statement (1-2 paragraphs) with answers to the following:
    • Describe your educational and career goals.
    • Describe how a scholarship from NECC will help you achieve those goals.

NECC Presidential Scholars Program

10 to 15 awards available at $1,000* ($500 Fall 2017/ $500 Spring 2018)

The following must be submitted on your behalf by a high school guidance counselor or teacher:
  • Completed Presidential Scholars Nomination Form
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA from high school
  • Current high school transcript (may be unofficial)
  • Letter of Reference
  • List of Extracurricular Activities/Positions Held/Work Experience

To support your nomination please apply to NECC and register for classes as soon as possible.

Must be registered at NECC for minimum of 12 credits for fall 2017; must maintain full time enrollment (12 or more credits)

You will also be paired with an NECC faculty or staff mentor who you will be expected to meet with a minimum of 4 times per academic year. 

Failure to meet the above requirements will result in your award being revoked.

Please ask your guidance counselor/teacher to recommend you for this award.

RM Technologies, Inc. Engineering Scholarship

 

 
  • Completed RM Technologies, Inc. Engineering Scholarship Application
  • One Letter of Recommendation from high school teacher or guidance counselor
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA from high school
  • Must be entering NECC through the Lawrence, MA school system
  • Must be Engineering Science Major
  • Must have significant financial need
  • Must be registered at NECC for minimum of 12 credits for fall 2017; must maintain full time enrollment (12 or more credits)
  • Brief personal statement (1-2 paragraphs) with answers to the following:
    • o Describe your financial need and the reasons a scholarship would help with your educational goals.
    • o Describe your interest in the Engineering Science major and your future career goals.
