Work Study Opportunities

Work-Study opportunities are available for on-campus or approved off-campus positions. NECC encourages students to work in community service and/or to find work related to their course of study. To apply for one of the Open Positions listed below, please contact the supervisor directly by email.

FWS Application Process

  • Students can apply for FWS positions by viewing open positions, and contacting supervisors of positions they are eligible for, and for which they wish to apply. If you wish to check whether you would be eligible for work-study, contact Financial Aid.
  • If hired, a student must complete all required forms and receive confirmation of authorization from the NECC Work-Study coordinator before he/she can start working.

Academic Technology Assistant

Job Description/Responsibilities:  

Provide support to faculty, students, and staff in the effective use of academic technology. Assist NECC students with software and hardware related questions and issues. Monitor the equipment and maintain the lab’s clean and organized condition. Assist the Academic Technology Desk staff with various projects, data collection and computer lab maintenance.

·         Greet and welcome quests to the computer lab and re-direct visitors to the Reference Librarians, IT Client Services and Administrative Offices when needed.

·         Provide technical software support to students using myNECC portal, Blackboard, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs and hardware support to students using printers, scanners, laptops and desktops, both over the phone and in person.

·         Maintain records of activities in the lab. Assist with data management and collection for printing, lab usage, office supplies and technical inquiries.

·         Enforce policies and procedures for use of the computer lab and the use of equipment, supplies and materials while maintaining a positive customer service environment

·         Perform other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Job Qualifications:

·         Ability to adapt communication style to difference audiences

·         Knowledge of computer equipment, technology software and hardware

·         Demonstrated ability to provide assistance and problem solve a variety of basic computer related issues with Microsoft Office Suite

Employee will be assisting with the civic engagement and service learning programming, including: Marketing and promotion of programming (including social media – Facebook and Twitter, etc.); Promotion of civic engagement at NECC, including assisting students to register to vote; Assisting with promotion and execution of program events and activities; Assisting students to find a community partner to complete service hours and conducting follow up with students; General assistance with the Career Center; Other duties as assigned.
