Work Study Opportunities

Work-Study opportunities are available for on-campus or approved off-campus positions. NECC encourages students to work in community service and/or to find work related to their course of study. To apply for one of the Open Positions listed below, please contact the supervisor directly by email.

FWS Application Process

  • Students can apply for FWS positions by viewing open positions, and contacting supervisors of positions they are eligible for, and for which they wish to apply. If you wish to check whether you would be eligible for work-study, contact Financial Aid.
  • If hired, a student must complete all required forms and receive confirmation of authorization from the NECC Work-Study coordinator before he/she can start working.

Job Title: Student Program Assistant

Department/Agency: NECC Student Engagement Center

Location: D-119 Haverhill Campus L-133 Lawrence Campus

Weekly Hours: 15

Pay Rate: $10/hr

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Assist Student Engagement staff with the organization of Orientation materials. Work with staff during special events such as fairs, College Life & Campus Services Fair, Winterfest, Seasonal Celebration, cookouts, etc., by helping to set-up break-down for events, interact with students and convey information to them regarding various services, clubs and activities offered at the College and be willing, on occasion, to speak to small groups of new students about those activities. Maintain College bulletin boards. Assist with the College Photo ID process and with data entry. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Needs to have strong computer skills (Word and Excel required, Publisher a plus), as well as verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to take direction and then work independently on projects. Must be organized, conscientious and possess knowledge of (or be willing to learn) the operation of various office machines.

Job Title: CIT Lab Assistant

Department/Agency: Center for Instructional Technology and Distance Learning

Location: Haverhill

Weekly Hours: 10-15

Pay Rate: $10/hr

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Student will assist CIT staff in a variety of duties that include the following, but are not limited to: Collaborate with staff to create and design educational content. Assist staff on Blackboard initiatives. Edit different types of materials. Troubleshoot technical problems and help identify solutions. Research sources of information. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Proficiency in Windows and Mac platforms. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint 2010. Proficiency in web functions: downloading, uploading files, tabbed browsing, advanced use of search engines, social media. Experience using Blackboard as a student. Have an “eye for detail” and have excellent typing skills. Be reliable and able to work independently and on a team. Be professional and able to maintain confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.

Job Title: Lab Aid for ESL

Department/Agency: Academic Preparation — ESL

Location: Haverhill and Lawrence

Weekly Hours: 5 – 8

Pay Rate: $10/hr

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Students will assist teachers and student of ESL writing classes with technical issues during computer lab time.  Asssitance is needed in using MS Word for writing, for matting, attaching, saving and emailing.  Also, students will give technical assistance to sstudents using online grammar and writing programs.  Student must be adept at using the college email and Word, and able to learn new software quickly.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Speak English, good computer skills, willing and able to help students and teacher.

Job Title: Clerk

Department/Agency: Paralegal Program

Location: Lawrence

Weekly Hours: 8 -10

Pay Rate: $10/hr

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:

General office duties such as typing. Filing, copying, prganizing, and editing.  The primary location for this position is in the Dimitry Building in Lawrence.  The ability to occasionally travel to the Haverhill Campus preferred but not required.  Ability to work Tuesdays and/or Thursdays a must.  No Monday or Friday hours available.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Excellent computer skills.  Ability to use Excel.  Organized, detail oriented, punctual, and dependable.  Ability to take direction and work independently.

Job Title: Student Assistant to Athletic Director

Department/Agency: Athletics

Location: Haverhill Campus

Weekly Hours: 15

Pay Rate: $10/hr

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:  

Student will be working with the athletic department budget, ordering equipment, assist with marketing and promotion of the athletic department.  Work home games.  Update NJCAA and NECC website.  Other jobs in the department to operation run smoothly.

Some nights and weekends required

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Microsoft word, excel, publisher, data entry, good organizational skills and knowledge of athletics.

Job Title: Work Study/Lawrence Testing Center

Department/Agency: Academic Placement and Testing Center

Location: Lawrence Campus

Weekly Hours: 5 – 10

Pay Rate: $10/hr

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:  

Provide general office assistance; greet and assist students who require testing, answer general walk in and phone inquiries.  Light data entry, filing, photocopying, shredding, generate mailings, and post APTC testing information on display boards.  Work in a confidential work environment.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

One to two years of related office experience, Microsoft Office computer skills, ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment with the ability to multi-task.

Job Title: Library Assistant Technology

Department/Agency: Bentley Library – Haverhill Campus

Location: Haverhill Campus

Weekly Hours: 10

Pay Rate: $10/hr

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:  

Assist students with MS Office 365, Blackboard, email and other related technical issues.  Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.  Assist students with hardware and/or printing.  Maintain copiers and printers.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Experience with MS Office products (Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Access).  Knowledge of networking systems concepts including firewall, client servers, network security.  Basic knowledge of current technologies.  Familiarity with Blackboard.  Aptitude for learning new software, good troubleshooting skills, ability to communicate clearly and precisely.

Job Title: Library Assistant

Department/Agency: Bentley Library – Haverhill Campus

Location: Haverhill Campus

Weekly Hours: 15

Pay Rate: $10/hr

 

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Assist in library circulation and technical services areas.  Perform shelving, shelf maintenance, inventory and shelf reading.  Assist with registering library patrons, circulating materials, and answering directional questions.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

High School Degree – Library Assistant should have computer proficiency, organizational skills and a strong customer service focus.
