Work Study Opportunities

Work-Study opportunities are available for on-campus or approved off-campus positions. NECC encourages students to work in community service and/or to find work related to their course of study. To apply for one of the Open Positions listed below, please contact the supervisor directly by email.

FWS Application Process

  • Students can apply for FWS positions by viewing open positions, and contacting supervisors of positions they are eligible for, and for which they wish to apply. If you wish to check whether you would be eligible for work-study, contact Financial Aid.
  • If hired, a student must complete all required forms and receive confirmation of authorization from the NECC Work-Study coordinator before he/she can start working.

Job Description/Responsibilities:  

Duties for this position include greeting and serving as the gateway person to all NECC student, staff and faculty that enter the computer lab area.  Assisting students with technical or non-technical questions at the Academic Technology Desk, PC desktops, MACs and print & scan station.  Enforcing the computer lab’s no drink policy and encouraging responsible printing.  Submitting entries to the Tech Assistance Log and Printer Usage log for statistics.  Refill, re-stock paper and supplies when needed and keeping the lab area tidy and organized for successful, continuous operation of our computer lab.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Academic Technology Assistants should have computer proficiency and a basic knowledge in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and Blackboard.  Strong customer service skills or desire to learn new interpersonal skills, practice and communicating effectively.

Jumpstart Corps Member

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Jumpstart Corps member position is open to caring adults committed to Jumpstart’s mission to work toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed and who are able to serve 10-15 hours per week (for a total of at least 200 to 300 hours) during the school year.  Corps members work in preschool classrooms with children. Responsibilities include participating in Jumpstart sessions each week on a team, participating in team planning meetings, serve classroom assistance time, participating in intensive pre- and in-service training, and attending periodic service days.
