How do I get a library card?
Your library card number is automatically assigned, and is based on your Student ID number.
Your Library Card #: 203850 + your 8-digit student ID (for instance, if your student ID is 00112233, your library card number is 20385000112233).
Your password for off-campus access is set to your 8-digit birthday (for instance, if your birthday is April 15, 1996, your password is 04151996).
How do I find out if NECC owns a book?
Go to the Library homepage and enter your search terms (title or author, for example) in the central search box under “Find Books.” This will launch the library’s catalog, where you can refine your search if necessary.
How do I request a book?
After you have found the book in the catalog, click on the title to see the full record, and then click the “Place Hold” link with a green check mark on the right. You will then need to enter your 14-digit library barcode number (beginning with 20385…), your PIN (usually your 8-digit student ID number), and the library where you want to pick up the book.
How long is the checkout period?
The checkout period for NECC-owned books is three weeks, and you may renew a book twice, for a total of nine weeks, unless another patron has requested the book. Please note that books requested from other libraries may have different checkout periods and renewal rules.
Can I use my library card or request books at other libraries?
Yes. Your NECC card is valid at any NOBLE library and any library in the Massachusetts state college system.
What if I’ve lost my library card or PIN?
If you have lost your NECC library card or PIN, contact the library at email@example.com. You may also call (978)-556-3400 or (978)-738-7400 for further assistance.
If I request books, where do I pick them up?
Choose the NOBLE library most convenient for you.
How can I find articles for my research paper?
Go to the Library homepage and click on the Articles tab in the central search box, then enter your search terms in the search field. This will search for articles in Academic Search Premier, a multidisciplinary database that covers many topics.
If you are searching for articles for a more specific topic (for instance, Business or Psychology) go to the Library’s Databases page and choose a Subject from the dropdown menu. This will show you the most relevant databases for various topics.
Please note: If you are accessing library databases from off-campus, you will be prompted to enter your 14-digit library barcode number (beginning with 20385…), and your PIN (usually your 8-digit student ID number).
