A student-choreographed dance piece interpreting the loss of a loved one will be featured during Northern Essex Community College dance program’s annual holiday student dance performance titled “Gravity” on Friday, November 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sport and Fitness Center on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St.

The student piece is titled “Needed Till the End” and is choreographed by Danielle Perrier. It explores the emotions someone feels after the loss of a loved one. “Waiting for the Rain” is a dance number choreographed by Michelle Deane, NECC dance program coordinator. This piece is a high-energy hip-hop dance piece performed by the hip-hop class.

At Northern Essex you can prepare for a career in dance performance, choreography, dance education, dance therapy, or dance studio operation. NECC offers associate degrees in General Studies: Dance Option as well as a certificate program in Dance Education.
