CoOL Hosts Performance by Romanian Folk Group

Plaiurile Dornelor Ensemble

Northern Essex Community College’s College of Older Learners (CoOL) will host a traditional music and dance performance by a Romanian folk group on Monday, Nov. 17 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Hartleb Technology Center on the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St. This performance is free and open to the public.

The folk group will demonstrate folk dances from the northern regions of Romania and introduce unique folk traditions for the winter holidays.       

The Plaiurile Dornelor Ensemble from Vatra Dornei, Romania was founded in 1977 at the Clubul Copiilor (Children’s Club) for children aged 7-18 to teach traditional Romanian music, dance and crafts. The winners of many Romanian dance competitions, they have performed at international folk festivals throughout Europe and have also appeared on local and national radio and TV programs.
