When you meet Taylor Early, one of the first things you notice is her smile. It is fitting, then, that she works as a dental assistant for local orthodontists helping others to smile as well.

A 2009 graduate of Haverhill High School, Taylor turned to NECC to earn her Certificate in Dental Assisting. “I wore braces when I was younger, and I love getting my teeth cleaned. I love to help people, too, so dental assisting is a great fit for me,” she says.
Northern Essex also allowed her to stay close to home and be near her friends and family, something that was important to her. She was working as a nanny and was able to keep working while she went to school. “For me, it was convenient and the campus felt comfortable and not overwhelming. You don’t need to go far to get a good education, and now I am at a job that I love.”

Taylor works as an assistant at Giordano & Lem Orthodontics in Lawrence. Her duties include greeting patients, providing instructions on braces and orthodontic appliance care, and assisting the doctors.

“I love to interact with people and help the people who are nervous. Dental practices have come a long way . . . we offer a relaxed, friendly, and supportive environment,” she adds.
Taylor says NECC prepared her for success in her field by providing real-word experiences, including a practicum. She learned about the job at Giordano & Lem from an email from the coordinator of the dental assisting program at NECC, and got hired on the spot. “A lot of people hire NECC dental assistants because they hear such great things about the program,” she says.
