NECC dance students Katie Formosi of Groveland, Marissa Gagnon of Salem, NH, and Alyssa Foden of Methuen prepare their student choreographed piece titled “Moments” based on the children’s book “The Kissing Hand”.

The forces of good and evil, childhood reassurances, and the four seasons are just a few of the themes explored in the Northern Essex Community College student dance performance titled “Originate” presented Friday, December 4, and Saturday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m. at Pentucket Regional High School, 24 Main St., in West Newbury.

This event is open to the public. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors and $4 for children under 2.

NECC dance students, Katie Formosi of Groveland, Marissa Gagnon of Salem, NH, and Alyssa Foden of Methuen, choreographed a performance titled “Moments” centered around the children’s book “The Kissing Hand” by Audrey Penn. The piece explores the child in each of us who sometimes needs reassurance. It will be performed to the music “Summer 78” by Yann Tiersen.

These are just a few of the student choreographed pieces to be performed by NECC dance students.

A piece that examines good and evil titled “The Gray Area” was choreographed and will be performed by Stephanie Ramirez of Lawrence, Yonatan Paredes of Lawrence, and Gianna Derrico of Plaistow, NH.
