Many online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses are offered through Northern Essex Community College for the fall semester.

This fall semester, which begins Wednesday, September 7, Northern Essex Community College will offer 19 associate degree or certificate programs fully or almost fully (80*) online as well as more than 200 courses that are offered online or as a hybrid which combines online learning with a traditional classroom experience. There are also 220 web-enhanced courses.

Programs offered online include business, computer information systems, sleep technology, criminal justice, liberal arts, web design, and more. Online courses range from accounting to technical writing to forensic science.

Northern Essex has been offering online courses and programs for the past 18 years, according to Melba Acevedo, director, Instructional Technology & Online Learning, and their popularity grows each year.

“About 70 percent of our students work full time or part time while in college,” said Acevedo.  “Online options give them flexibility because we know being on campus can be a challenge. It is ideal for students with technical skills and good study habits.”
