New Facility brings New Opportunities
The Corporate and Community Education Center of Northern Essex Community College is a new name at a new location: 1600 Osgood Street, North Andover. This leased facility is 30,000 square feet of classroom, computer lab, conference and administrative space. Formerly CBI and Continuing Education Services, the Corporate and Community Education Center and staff of 12 moved into their new offices this past September.
The Center will be the focus of expanded non-credit offerings to both corporate customers and the public, in Professional and Career Development, Entrepreneurship, Small Business Development, Commercial Truck Driver Training and general courses for personal enrichment. The potential of this site is to offer non-credit training opportunities seven days a week, daytime and evenings. The demand for non-credit training has been growing, however; the Haverhill and Lawrence's campuses were already meeting an ever-expanding credit demand. The ability to develop new non-credit programs was dependent on acquiring new space.
1600 Osgood Street Commerce Center, North Andover is the former manufacturing plant of Lucent Technologies, which is under the new ownership of Ozzy Properties. Ozzy sees the college's presence as a marketing incentive regarding accessibility of workforce training opportunities for their potential manufacturing tenants.
The Corporate and Community Education Center has 22 classrooms including 5 computer labs and 2 conference areas. 1600 Osgood Street also offers access through Ozzy Properties to a state of the art auditorium, expansive executive dining room and on site food services, which will accommodate corporate level seminars and conferences.
The college is very fortunate to acquire such a valuable asset for its educational mission. We invite you to stop by and tour our new facility. Many in the Merrimack Valley will benefit from the courses and programs available at NECC's Corporate and Community Education Center in North Andover.
