After spending seven seasons as an assistant coach at Suffolk University, Jeff Mejia came to Northern Essex as the Knights new head coach. Mejia took the team to the NJCAA World Series in his first season as Knights coach, and the third overall time for the program.
During that first season, the Knights finished 18-16, with a 12-7 record in conference play. The team defeated Holyoke Community College 17-2 to clinch punch their World Series ticket.
The longtime baseball coach is also a co-founder of the Boston Jr. Rams AAU baseball team, which has quadrupled in size since it began in 2007. Mejia is also the owner of the Rams Athletic Complex, an indoor baseball training facility in North Reading, Mass.
Mejia holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Salem State College in Sports Fitness and Leisure Studies, with a concentration in Coaching. He also served in the United States Army and served in Operation Desert Storm. Hie and his wife Colleen currently reside in North Reading with their two children, Jeffrey Jr. and Isabella.
Josh Band comes to NECC with plenty of baseball experience. A graduate of Rollins College in Florida, Band brings four years of college baseball experience with him, as well as a year of professional baseball experience.
The Knights assistant coach has also given private baseball lessons to aspiring baseball players, showing his passion for coaching. Band graduated from Rollins College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
