NECC Knights baseball season preview
Northern Essex CC Knights 2014 Baseball Outlook
The Knights are returning All-Region Jonathan DeleCruz, Jake Rayner, Trevor Bouvier, and Zachary Beckwith. Also returning are Anthony Ciaini, David Quazada, and Daniel Peters. Jonathan Dele Cruz (CF) whom had over 13 extra base hits and batted .336, while a force at the plate is recognized for his defensive skills, which are among the best in the region. Jake Rayner (1B) played in 33 games last season batted .333 with 10 doubles will return to play 1B. Trevor Bouvier (SS) has the ability to change games with is glove and bat. Trevor lead the team with 4 home runs had two of the biggest of the year in the Regional Finals and finish the Championship game with 7 RBI’s. Zachary Beckwith finished the regular season with a 6-1 record and 1.82 ERA. Zachary had 39 K’s in 44.1 innings. Keys to the Knights success will be the development of Anthony Ciaini (C/Inf.), David Quazada (RHP, RF) and Dan Peters (RHP) all three will look to move into starting roles this season.
The Knights Freshman/Transfer class is one of the brightest the school has seen in a while. Sophomore pitchers Paul Mahoney (RHP) Dan Bonito (LHP/DH) and Nick Catalanolto (RHP) comes to the Knights program in top form and are looking to bolster the teams pitching rotation. Ryan Mc Auliffe (RHP) comes to the Knights from North Reading, MA. Ryan help lead his High School Team to a State Title and dominated the league for three season. Zarif Pajazetovic (6’2” 245 lb RHP) comes from the Everett High School program. Zarif, an all league pitcher anchored the pitching staff his Jr. and Sr. year. Zarif also a 3rd baseman with + power looks to compete both as a pitcher and positional player. MacDanial Singleton (SS) a GBL all-star and left handed hitter with the ability to change games on the bases looks to compete for a role in the knights middle infield. F. Outfielders Harrison Smoske and Shawn Doyle are both coming off productive fall seasons and look to sure up the outfield for the Knights.
