Darren Stratton will be coaching his 14th season at NECC. Coach Stratton and his assistant, Joe Tardiff have hit the recruiting trail hard and returned with 11 talented youths, several of whom are extremely talented. The only returning player this year is Neph Carmona. Carmona will start at forward and Stratton hopes he can be a stabilizing presence. The talented new players include: Derek Andreoli, who was second-team all-conference three years ago as a senior at East Providence (R.I.) High. Ryan Grant from Haverhill, is a three-time Eagle-Tribune All-Star, who scored 1,432 career points. He has looked good in practice and may see some time as a backup point guard. Kyle Sangster, who was the leading scorer for Malden Catholic last year, and was twice named on the first-team all-Catholic Conference. Colin Collins shows promise as a shooting guard: he averaged 7.8 points a game last year at Charlestown. Javonte Forbes is the tallest, at 6’5 and one of the most talented. He moved here from Miami, along with Peterson Morency. They were both teammates at Miramar High.

Coach Stratton attended NECC, where he helped guide the Knights to one of the best school records in Men’s Basketball history with a record of 22-6. In his two years playing for NECC, Stratton was among the nation’s leaders in assists.
