Women's Basketball Head Coach

Head Coach Jim Gayton

Coach Gayton has numerous accomplishments in Basketball. He is returning to NECC as Head Coach of the Knights Women’s Basketball team. He previously performed as the Assistant Head Coach of the NECC Knights; and earlier for the UMass River Hawks out of Lowell, MA, and Merrimack College Warriors from North Andover MA. He also was an accomplished Head Coach of both the Bay State Renegades (AAU) from Lynn, MA, and the Triple Threat (AAU) club out of North Andover, MA.

Coach Gayton has coached basketball, both girls and boys, at all levels of competition – from elementary, middle, and high school to college. He has instilled the importance of teamwork and individual skills development; which produced ten players that went on to capture the Cape Ann League Championship two years in a row. Additionally he was active in the camp circuit during the off season working as the instructor at the Northeast Basketball Camp in Haverhill and as coach in the Hamilton-Wenham Youth fall and summer leagues.

He is certified by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) and is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. He also attended the Nike Coaching Clinics in Chicago & Connecticut.

Gayton is a 1979 graduate of Psychology from Westfield State College. He currently is the director of marketing at Cedar Point Communications, a communications technology firm which develops broadband voice equipment for telecommunications, located in Derry, NH.

He resides in West Newbury, MA, with his wife Adrienne, daughters Jennifer and Jessica, and son Christopher.
